Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield
Childhood friends Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, started Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream in 1978 in an old gas station on an investment of $8,000. A unique values-led business model, Ben & Jerry’s went public and grew to $300 Million before it was acquired by Unilever in 2000. Cohen and Greenfield are the recipients of numerous awards for their commitment to social responsibility, including the U.S. Small Business Award and the James Beard Humanitarians of the year awards. Today Ben is the Head Stamper of StampStampede.org a campaign to amend the constitution to get money out of politics.
Social Venture Network honored Ben and Jerry at the 2012 SVN Hall of Fame Celebration for their work as Visionary Social Entrepreneurs.
