Now Hiring: Marketing & Community Engagement Coordinator (Contract)

About Social Venture Network

Social Venture Network (SVN) is a community of business leaders using enterprise as a tool for systemic change. For nearly four decades, SVN has convened entrepreneurs, investors, and executives committed to building a just, regenerative, and human-centered economy. Our work centers on peer exchange, trust-based relationships, and collective action. We are looking for a communications leader who understands that storytelling is how movements scale.

Position Summary

SVN is hiring a Marketing & Community Engagement Coordinator to steward our communications as community infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of storytelling, member activation, and network growth — translating real relationships, real work, and real conversations into clear, human communications.

The coordinator will help activate SVN’s members, affiliates, and board leaders as storytellers and ambassadors, steward SVN’s owned channels, and ensure our voice remains grounded, honest, and relational.

The right candidate understands that movements scale through people, not platforms — and sees communications as a tool for belonging, trust, and collective action.

This is a remote position with a candidate located in North America preferred.

Scope of Work

  1. Community Communications & Editorial Stewardship

  • Own SVN’s primary communications channels, including member newsletter, LinkedIn, Substack, Blue Sky, Instagram and Facebook, with responsibility for editorial planning, cadence, and execution

  • Maintain a consistent, human voice across all communications that reflects SVN’s values of honesty, depth, and real relationship

  • Shape and edit content from members, affiliates, and board leaders while preserving authenticity and clarity

  • Highlight member work, collaborations, and impact in ways that foreground humanity before credentials

  • Ensure all communications reinforce SVN’s core value pillars and positioning as a space for serious changemakers beyond performative networking

2. Member, Affiliate & Board Activation

  • Support activation of SVN members, affiliates, and board leaders as storytellers and ambassadors across their personal networks

  • Prepare light-touch prompts, shareable copy, and highlights to make participation easy and authentic

  • Coordinate amplification moments tied to newsletters, events, and key announcements

  • Support affiliate engagement through tailored messaging, invitations, and clear previews of member value

  • Help reinforce an invitational value ladder from affiliate → member through content and relationship-based outreach

3. Programming & Event Communications

  • Lead communications planning and execution for SVN gatherings, virtual programs, and the annual conference

  • Draft event narratives, speaker spotlights, program teasers, and follow-up communications

  • Coordinate promotional timelines aligned with programming milestones and member activation

  • Repurpose event content into post-event storytelling to extend impact and visibility

4. Digital Presence & Channel Strategy

  • Adapt long-form content into platform-appropriate formats (LinkedIn posts and articles, excerpts, short features)

  • Maintain SVN’s digital presence across priority platforms

  • Support cross-promotion with aligned partner organizations, member-led platforms, and complementary networks

  • Assist with basic website updates related to communications, events, and messaging

5. Insights, Learning & Continuous Improvement

  • Track engagement signals that reflect relationship strength (opens, replies, forwards, shares, comments)

  • Share insights with leadership on what content resonates and supports growth

  • Help evolve communications practices based on member feedback, engagement patters and strategic priorities

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience in communications, marketing, or community engagement

  • Strong writing voice that is clear, warm, and human

  • Comfort managing newsletters and social platforms

  • Ability to translate mission-driven work into compelling stories

  • Organized, self-directed, and comfortable in remote environments

  • Experience with nonprofit, membership networks, or events preferred

  • Basic design skills (Canva or similar) a plus

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • You believe business should serve society. You enjoy connecting people and telling stories that bring communities to life. You are energized by mission-driven networks and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial organization where initiative matters more than hierarchy.

  • You are energized by mission-driven communities and know how to help people see themselves as part of something meaningful without forcing participation or polishing the edges off what’s real.

  • You have strong editorial instincts and good judgment. You are comfortable shaping content from accomplished leaders, board members, and peers while preserving their voice and intent.

  • You are naturally relational. You enjoy connecting dots between people, lifting up others’ work, and making it easy for busy leaders to participate as storytellers and ambassadors.

  • You are organized, self-directed, and calm in an environment with high trust and low bureaucracy. You take initiative, follow through, and communicate clearly in a remote, asynchronous setting.
